Peaceful Town x Japan
To me, life is more beautiful while escaping from the over-crowded city.
Last year in Mid-Autumn, I went to Yashima (屋島) for photographing the ruined hotels. Yashima is locating
in Takamatsu Province, Shikoku. Unfortunately, under the current redevelopment and reconstruction, many ruins have been removed. As Yashima has been suffering from the decreasing use of Great Seto Bridge(瀬戸大橋)and the economic downturn after the economic bubble (1986-1991), the amount
of tourist to Yashima dropped in the late 20th century. As a
result
, lots of hotels
became ruins. Yashima cable car is one of the most well-known cable cars which are out-of-service in Japan. In fact, after WWII, many trams and cable cars were abandoned
. Talking to a
local resident, I could see that he is so proud of the Yashima cable car. It represents the prosperous period of the town.
